Pediatric dermatological conditions
Dermatological conditions are becoming more common in Pediatric and Dermatology practices.
The skin is the body’s largest organ and the preservation of its integrity is important to maintain its protection function against external aggressions.
Children have specific pathologies with specific manifestations and forms of evolution and each age responds to different diagnosis and therapeutic methods.
As in Pediatrics, Pediatric Dermatology is a discipline that presents a disadvantage which is the inconvenience of communicating with a patient who cannot speak, is too scared to talk or prefers that his parents do it for him.
The need for a pediatric dermatologist specialist
For all this, children need to be attended by professionals trained in this field, used to dealing with them and that are familiar with the pathology of each age: dermatosis of genetic origin (atopic dermatitis), hemangiomas and other vascular malformations, child pathology infectious (mollusks, warts, impetigo …), congenital nevus, tracking moles since childhood, etc.
Dr. Calvo participates in the conferences of the Spanish Pediatric Dermatology Group (GEDP), an association that depends on the Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (AEDV).
The Biollaser Clinic also has a laser platform, led by Dr. Boixeda, director of the Laser Unit of the Ramón y Cajal Hospital, which performs laser treatment for hemangiomas, vascular malformations, flat warts and other susceptible pathologies.
